Absolutely unsuitable for snow and ice. While this is advertised as “all-season,” practically speaking it’s a summer tire. In even a light coating of snow, it loses almost all traction. The car becomes almost impossible to keep moving in a straight line, and any braking activates the ABS full power and results in absurdly long stopping distances. They simply cannot be used safely in the winter if snow or ice are possibilities.
You can see this from the tread pattern, which has minimal siping (the slits that pack in snow to create winter traction). The tread more closely resembles a summer tire than an all-season tire, and the handling bears that out.
Above 50°F, the handling is quite good, but not excellent, on dry pavement. Wet handling is mediocre; they don’t grip well in puddles, but well enough to retain handling of the car with some effort.
If sold as a summer tire, they’d be a four-star tire, mostly for the value. But they’re sold as all-season tires, and they just aren’t. As all-season tires, they’re terrible, even life-endangering.
